DO YOU KNOW…..
Mapping the wound” is a new technique based on microbial autofluorescence imaging of the bacteria in wound. This mapping gives important visual and objective pre- and post-debridement information about the wound at the bedside in real time.
Real-time wound imaging” means prompt visualization and recognition of bacteria in wounds and at the patient bedside. Stakeholders and practitioners including chiropodists, podiatrists, orthopedic surgeons are empowered by immediate access to bacteriological information at the palm of their hands and that is both reliable and accurate.

DO YOU KNOW…..
In clinical practice today, wound infection diagnosis relies on visual assessment of the wound under standard room lighting conditions.
The human eye cannot visualize bacteria in wounds but MolecuLight i:X can because it

  • is a portable hand-held device
  • needs no contact and is not invasive
  • needs no use of contrast agents
  • is safe and easy to use in a clinical setting
  • provides real-time imaging of bacteria in wounds at the point-of-care diagnosis
  • offers surveillance of bacteria in wounds and response to treatment
  • integrates into current clinical workflow
  • offers imaging for early detection of bacteria in wounds of asymptomatic patients

The Bacteria in Wound Blog is all about wound care management. Our previous blog showcased the technology behind imaging bacteria in wounds with MolecuLight i:X. Now you can learn more on how real-time imaging of bacteria in wound can guide your protocols at your practise, by clicking here.
